Tokin' George W. 25¢ 4:20 Cut Coin NecklaceYear 19420 quarter!
What's wrong with this picture? The added "0" to the 1942 date was cut into the coin, as was the joint and the simulated smoke. A smoking 420 novelty cut with GW toking up. This is a genuine 1942 WWII U.S.A. quarter -- made of 90% silver, with G.W. enjoying a smoke, and the added "0" to the date makes it a fun novelty and coin gift. Over 70 years old! The coin is hand cut out by a craftsperson with decades of coin-cutting experience, and then mounted on a 100% imported industrial hemp braided cord (approx. 22-inches in length, with lobster claw clasp.) Each coin is a cut a little different from this one pictured, but you always get a 100% guarantee. How did term 4:20 or 420 originate?
It is believed that the term "420" originated with a group of San Rafael high school buddies in the late 1970's -- self named as The Waldos -- that used the term "420" to communicate their intentions with each other to get high (even used in front of their parents): 420 meant 4:20 p.m.; They would say, "Let's meet at 4:20 p.m." and where. Usually, it was understood that was near the Louis Pasteur statute at the school. Luck would have it that one of The Waldos parents handled some business for The Grateful Dead, and these five friends came and went in The Dead's Marin County studio and their parties, likely using the term "420" freely. When The Dead popularized the term, the magazine High Times began using the term; it then began to to be universally used. The rest is history, celebrated symbolically each April 20th (4/20) as a day to smoke pot. Source |
